HTT - XyliTAG™ Labels



XyliTag™ are chemical-resistant and solvent-resistant labels designed to be used with all commercially available thermal transfer printers. When printed with our TC-class of xylene resistant ribbons they can withstand direct contact with, as well as immersion in, harsh organic solvents such as xylene, ice-cold ethanol, isopropanol, methanol, formalin, toluene and acetone, without additional protection or lamination. They also resist a number of solvents and chemicals used in other fields or in the manufacturing process, including dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), methyl ethyl ketone (MEK), acrylonitrile (ACN), industrial thinners, brake fluid and 91 Octane gasoline (15 minutes). Finally, they can also withstand extreme temperatures and wear-and-tear, in addition to harsh chemicals, including exposure to fixatives and stains, buffers, baking in ovens (up to +130ºC), boiling water and microwaves.

Coated with a strong, permanent adhesive designed to resist solvents, they remain firmly attached even when exposed to harsh chemicals and during long-term archival storage after processing. Furthermore, these xylene-resistant labels can be used in a multitude of histological staining processes, able to withstand the clearing of tissue sections with xylene and toluene, tissue fixation using alcohols, aldehydes, and ketones as well as staining and counterstaining with hematoxylin, eosin and other dyes. The labels can also be incubated in different chemical mixtures used during the dehydration process and infiltration, resist tissue embedding in paraffin wax, sectioning of embedded tissue with microtomes, and the mounting of sections on microscope slides.

Designed specifically to perfectly fit microscope slides, pathological specimen storage containers, tissue cassettes as well as other surfaces, reagents bottles or containers that will come into contact with harsh chemicals and solvents. The labels are perfectly suited for use in the field of electron microscopy, surgical and forensic pathology, cytology, histology immunology, analytical and organic chemistry, as well as clinical research and teaching laboratories. These solvent-resistant labels can be used with specimen accession information systems as well as Laboratory Information Management Systems – LIMS, STARLIMS used in pathology, by hospitals and research laboratories. The labels are easily customizable, and can be integrated into all major barcode label printing software or databases (SQL database) including BarTender, Filemaker, NiceLabel, Labelview, Labelmatrix, Zebra Designer, Codesoft, Loftware and many more.

The labels also resist standard ethylene oxide gas sterilization, consisting of a 1-hour exposure to 759 mg/L of ethylene oxide gas, at 55°C, and 40-80% relative humidity, followed by a 2-hour aeration cycle.
